Your 5-Day Journey
Morning pickup from Arusha and drive 130 km south to Tarangire National Park. Home to the world's largest concentration of elephants outside Amboseli, Tarangire is a wildlife paradise of baobab trees, seasonal marshes and the life-giving Tarangire River.
Afternoon game drive in Tarangire — watch enormous elephant herds, impressive lion prides, leopards, wild dogs, hartebeest and over 550 bird species. Overnight at Suricata Boma Lodge near the park boundary.
Morning game drive in Tarangire to catch early morning elephant activity, then drive 85 km north to Lake Manyara National Park. This compact park packs an extraordinary diversity into its 330 sq km — groundwater forest, open plains, the alkaline lake and the famous Rift Valley escarpment.
Lake Manyara is the world's most famous home of tree-climbing lions — spot them lounging in the branches of fig trees. Over 400 flamingos wade on the lake shoreline. Hippos wallow in the shallows; buffalos graze on the floodplains. Stay at Suricata Boma Lodge near Manyara for a comfortable night.
Early morning game drive in Manyara, then drive through the Ngorongoro highlands into the Serengeti. The landscape transforms dramatically — from forest and escarpment to endless golden savannah stretching to the horizon.
Enter Serengeti and begin afternoon game drives. The Serengeti ecosystem hosts over 1.5 million wildebeest, 700,000 zebra and 500,000 gazelle — the world's greatest wildlife spectacle. Settle into Tanzania Bush Camps as the sun sets over Africa's most famous wilderness.
Dawn game drive in Serengeti — chase cheetahs and lions in the golden morning light before packing up and heading east to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
The drive to Ngorongoro is spectacular — you ascend through Maasai homesteads and afromontane forest to arrive at the rim of the world's largest intact volcanic caldera. Ngorongoro Kuhama Camp sits right on the crater rim with jaw-dropping views. Sundowners on the veranda as the crater floor glows in the evening light.
Wake before sunrise for crater rim views bathed in golden light. After breakfast, descend 600+ metres into the Ngorongoro Crater for a full morning of wildlife encounters in this 260 sq km wildlife arena.
The crater's isolation has produced extraordinary wildlife density — all Big Five including the critically endangered black rhino, plus spotted hyena clans, enormous elephant bulls and flocks of flamingos on Lake Magadi. Hot picnic lunch crater-side, then ascend and drive 185 km back to Arusha.
