The sundowner is one of Africa's greatest traditions — the moment when the afternoon game drive slows, a spot is chosen (a rocky kopje, a riverbed, a hilltop), a folding table is set up, and cold drinks appear as the sun begins its final descent over the plains.
In Tanzania, sundowners happen against some of the most spectacular scenery on Earth. An elephant family silhouetted at the horizon. The Serengeti stretching to infinity in every direction. The Ngorongoro rim lit in amber. The colours that fill the western sky as the sun drops beneath the African plain are unlike anything else on Earth.
Your guide will pack a cool box with your preferred drinks and snacks, find the perfect location based on that day's wildlife sightings and wind direction, and set up the table as the light fades. This 30-45 minute pause belongs to no one but you.
