7-Day Marangu Route

Overnight: Stay in a comfortable hotel in Moshi to rest and acclimatize before your adventure.

Arrival: Arrive in Moshi, Tanzania, where you’ll meet your guide and the rest of your team. After a detailed briefing, we’ll check your gear to ensure you're fully prepared for the climb.

Distance: 8 km / 5 miles

Elevation Gain: 800m

Duration: 3-4 hours

Highlights: The journey begins at Marangu Gate, where you'll pass through the dense rainforest filled with unique wildlife and vibrant plant life. The first day is designed to be gentle, allowing you to gradually adjust to the altitude.

Overnight: Mandara Hut (shared huts with beds, meals, and basic facilities).

Distance: 12 km / 7.5 miles

Elevation Gain: 1,000m

Duration: 5-6 hours

Highlights: You'll continue through the moorland zone, passing large lobelia and giant heather plants. The views of the Kibo peak begin to emerge, offering dramatic vistas of the surrounding landscape.

Overnight: Horombo Hut (shared huts, meals, and rest).

Distance: 10 km / 6.2 miles

Elevation Gain: 1,000m

Duration: 6-7 hours

Highlights: The landscape changes as you enter the alpine desert zone. The air becomes thinner, and the temperature drops as you approach Kibo Hut—the final stop before your summit attempt. You’ll have the afternoon to rest and prepare for the challenging day ahead.

Overnight: Kibo Hut (shared huts, meals, and rest).

Distance: 21 km / 13 miles (round trip)

Elevation Gain: 1,195m (summit)

Duration: 12-14 hours

Highlights: This is the day you've been waiting for. You’ll begin your ascent to Uhuru Peak at midnight or early morning hours. The summit day is long and strenuous, but the feeling of standing at the top of Mount Kilimanjaro, watching the sunrise from Africa's highest point, is absolutely worth the effort. Afterward, you'll descend back to Horombo Hut for rest.

Overnight: Horombo Hut (shared huts, meals, and rest).

Distance: 20 km / 12.5 miles

Elevation Loss: 2,900m

Duration: 5-6 hours

Highlights: After your summit, you’ll descend through the lush forest zone back to Marangu Gate, where your Kilimanjaro adventure concludes. You’ll receive your summit certificate and transfer back to Moshi.

Overnight: Comfortable hotel in Moshi to relax after the climb.

Optional: If you have time, explore the charming town of Moshi or embark on a day tour to nearby attractions like Lake Chala or a coffee farm tour. Otherwise, transfer to the airport for your onward journey.
