Tarangire is renowned for its large elephant population, ancient baobab trees, and diverse wildlife, including lions, leopards, and various species of birds. The park is also famous for its seasonal migration of wildebeest and zebras.
Tarangire is located in northern Tanzania, about 120 kilometers (75 miles) southwest of Arusha. It is part of Tanzania’s northern safari circuit, which includes other famous parks such as Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, and Lake Manyara.

The best time to visit Tarangire is during the dry season, from June to October, when wildlife congregates around the Tarangire River and waterholes, making it easier to spot animals. The wet season, from November to May, offers lush landscapes and abundant birdlife but can make wildlife viewing more challenging.

You can reach Tarangire by road or air. The park is accessible by a 2-hour drive from Arusha. Several tour operators offer organized safaris to the park. Alternatively, you can fly into the nearby Kuro Airstrip, with scheduled flights from Arusha, Serengeti, and other locations.
